Toyota Media Service, Toyota Industries and Nihon Unisys introduce a national charger infrastructure map smartphone for searching for information on charging facilities

Nationwide charging station information service introduced

Toyota Media Service Corporation (head office in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; president, Shigeki Tomoyama; "Toyota Media Service"), Toyota Industries Corporation (head office in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture; president, Akira Onishi; "Toyota Industries") and Nihon Unisys, Ltd. (head office, Koto-ku, Tokyo; president, Shigeru Kurokawa; "Nihon Unisys") will introduce the a national charger infrastructure map smartphone app for searching for information on charging facilities across the country, on March 9.

The app was developed as part of the EV/PHV usage promotion platform under the Ministry of the Environment's FY2014 Low Carbon Technology Research and Development Program.

The app allows users to search for rapid and standard chargers in 47 prefectures nationwide. The charging facility information has been supplied by the EV/PHV usage promotion platform*.

The platform aggregates information from local governments in the Chubu and Kansai areas, as well as private businesses and related organizations, offering accurate information regardless of automobile manufacturer or charger manufacturer. For the convenience of EV/PHV owners, the app offers a search feature for chargers near rest stops, restaurants, and so on.

The search app is expected to help resolve user anxieties about charging their vehicles while out, as well as help cut CO2 emissions by promote the use of charging facilities. For this reason, Toyota Media Service, Toyota Industries and Nihon Unisys will engage in promoting wider EV and PHV use by sharing their respective charging facility information.

  • Advanced search (search by type of charger, compatible power charging card, etc.)
  • Keyword search (names/addresses of shopping centers, railway stations, or other facilities)
  • Can save frequently used chargers to a favorites list
