Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Media Service develops "TransLog," a new telematics service for corporate users

Introduced nationwide through Toyota Rent a Car dealers

Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter called "Toyota") and Toyota Media Service Corporation have developed TransLog*2, a new telematics*1 service providing support to corporate car lease users in fleet operation management, and will introduce the service through Toyota Rent a Car dealers nationwide on January 20, 2016.

TransLog replaces G-BOOK BIZ, building upon existing services (automated daily operation log, safety and eco-driving diagnosis, dangerous driving warnings, etc.) with new feature for better a service that meets customer needs. New features include Eco Drive Support and fuel efficiency management, which provide more effective guidance for eco-driving, the dangerous behavior record, which helps drivers to confirm road conditions with the driver recorder feature through coordination of video and map data, and vehicle tracking and tracing, which can be used for improving commute management and work assignment areas. In addition, new contracts have been prepared so that the service can be introduced in one go even to vehicles already on lease. Through the promotion of eco-driving, TransLog will support initiatives for cost reductions, road traffic accident prevention, and the optimization of operational management. Furthermore, Eco Drive Support and fuel efficiency management gathers fuel efficiency data from the vehicle's Controller Area Network (CAN)*3 greater safety and security. This action was taken to address the possibility of unexpected difficulties such as battery drain or warning lights turning on as a result of retrofitting devices to the diagnostic system connector*4 to gather fuel efficiency data, possibilities for which the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association is issuing warnings. Other services will be introduced in the future after TransLog is introduced in order to expand the scope of services to meet customer needs.

Toyota and Toyota Rent a Car dealers plan to make use of the upgraded TransLog to strengthen Toyota Rent a Car Driving Improvement Support, which proposes optimal ways of using cars to community-based customers.
