The aim of GLIP is to accelerate the collaborations with start-ups and business companies with technologies and business ideas that make society brighter and more prosperous.
GLIP is based on the concept of “a place to realize innovation through real encounters and co-creation for real value creation” and promote new business and technology development through co-creation with the aim of creating new value for our customers in response to the transformation of the automotive industry due to the diversification of market needs and technological innovations such as CASE※1, or changing people’s values of mobility such as logistics and human flow under the influence of the COVID-19.

TOYOTA Connected has had venture spirit inherited from the establishment and providing a connected service for in-car use and now expanding to seven regions around the world, mainly Japan and the U.S. Furthermore, we have been building and operating the Mobility Service Platform (MSPF※2), an information platform that is the core of Toyota Motor Corporation’s Connected strategy in 2016.

At GLIP, we will work towards the creation of new businesses by combining our strengths of connected and various technologies with the strengths of start-ups and business companies having venture spirits.

  • Providing a working space that can be used freely by cooperative enterprises
  • Holding events to experience Fun to Drive in the garage and use of vehicles in demonstration tests
  • Utilizing customer voice and big data accumulated through our business
  • Sharing technical development and operation know-how of connected services in Japan and abroad
  • Organizing workshops on new mobility services, such as hackathons and ideathons
  • Launching an acceleration program in the area of connected and mobility (under consideration)

The mechanisms to promote co-creation

Set a working space where is available free of charge for cooperating companies, and a garage for testing and evaluation using vehicles in the same building. Promote interaction and the exchange of ideas by setting up communication spaces throughout the area and a café and bar reminiscent of a good old-fashioned drive-in (contributing to the development of motorization) to stimulate a passion for mobility.

Display our corporate philosophy, vision and Trick art for a change of thinking throughout the office to stimulate ingenuity and innovative thinking.

Introduce comfortable and secure network and various digital communication tools for remote work and telework. Utilizing the existing structure and materials of the building, the structure was designed with simplicity, functionality and expandability in mind, without introducing unnecessary decorations or equipment.
